    Architectural Designer I with Sustainability Focus 
    Perkins Eastman - Washington, DC 

    Perkins Eastman is seeking a recent graduate of an accredited school of architecture who is passionate about design and sustainability. This individual will work directly with the Perkins Eastman Firmwide sustainability team for part of their time to assist with sustainable projects across the firm. Projects vary from small interior fit-outs to large master planning exercises and tasks include LEED documentation, climate analysis, and project performance analysis. 

    This individual will also spend part of their time more deeply embedded in a design team within our DC office. Hiring for this position in early May. Interested students, please e-mail Heather Jauregui at h.jauregui@perkinseastman.com. 

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Sustainability Work
    • Assisting with sustainability focused project work including LEED documentation and performance analysis for projects of a variety of types and sizes
    • Design Team Work
    • Work collaboratively with a project team, contributing to all phases of planning, design, documentation, and construction administration.
    • Produce effective visualizations and illustrations of projects for presentation to clients, public authorities, and partners. 
    • Assist in the development of design concepts and technical details under the guidance of experienced architects.
    • Contribute to the preparation of construction drawings, following established standards and conventions for high quality projects and documents.
    • With the assistance of a Project Architect, review building codes and standards to evaluate design compliance with regulatory and industry requirements.
    • Advance high performance design strategies and systems integration in support of sustainable design certifications.

    Qualifications and Key Skills:

    • Bachelor or Master Degree in Architecture.
    • Concentration on sustainability during undergrad or graduate program highly recommended.
    • Passion for sustainability.
    • Deep knowledge of basic passive design principles.
    • Ability to work independently and on multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills and excellent graphic presentation skills.
    • Proficiency with Revit and Adobe Creative Suite is required.  Experience with other software such as Microsoft Office suite, AutoCAD, or common digital rendering and predictive analytics programs is preferred. 
    • Intellectual curiosity, eagerness to engage with others, and willingness to contribute to a healthy, vital workplace culture.
    • Experience with the LEED rating system and performance analysis software such as Sefaira, Insight 360, and Ladybug/Honeybee for Rhino is valuable, but not required.
    • LEED accreditation, or comparable sustainability credential preferred, or expected within 18 months of hire.
